Healthy Foods For an Energized and Focused Life

by Eric Lumpkins

Eating healthy and getting a proper amount of nutrients is important for a healthy lifestyle. How you eat correlates with how productive you are at work, how your brain performs, and how you feel on a daily basis. An unhealthy diet won’t provide you with enough energy to accomplish your everyday tasks. Instead, it can result in fatigue, poor mental health, increased stress and depression, and hinder your ability to think with clarity.

Good foods can enhance your memory, increase your focus, and stabilize your mood. Here are the foods you should be eating.

Fruits

Blueberries contain a great amount of antioxidants and gallic acid, which can protect your brain from degeneration, as well as boost your focus and memory. Strawberries have also been shown to improve long-term memory. Bananas contain the daily amount of glucose needed for your brain. Fruits make amazing daily snacks.

Healthy Fats

Avocados are a fantastic source of fiber as well as of monounsaturated fatty acids, which aid in the protection of brain cells, and healthy fat is also a longer-lasting fuel source than carbohydrates. Nuts, such as almonds, pecans, and walnuts, are also a great source of healthy fats and they are also packed full of nutrients such as vitamin E, amino acids, and magnesium. Greek yogurt is also a great source of healthy fat, as well as protein and amino acids. These foods will keep you energized, feeling good, and focused.

Vegetables

Spinach, kale, tomatoes, broccoli, eggplant, and other amazing vegetables are essential for a healthy diet. These veggies provide your body with healthy complex carbohydrates which are excellent for keeping your body fueled and energized, but these foods are also correlated with preventing brain degeneration, enhancing cognitive functioning, and mental focus and clarity. Eat your greens!

Animal Proteins

Roast beef, tuna, salmon, grass-fed beef, and eggs are all great sources of protein and are also jam-packed with important minerals such as iron and vitamin B6. In a study looking at iron-deficient children, their classroom success was weaker. Iron is essential for mental energy and focus. Vitamin B6, which is heavily found in tuna, is linked to motivation and mental health. Lack of vitamin B6 can lead to poor mental health, including depression.

Water

Water is vital for mental focus and energy. It has been proven to help you “think faster, be more focused, and experience greater clarity and creativity.” Every function of your body is dependent on water, so getting an adequate amount is highly important.

If you are struggling with finding the energy, focus, or motivation to accomplish your goals or to be the person you want to be, or are struggling with depression and mental health, you should try taking a look at your diet. You may be lacking something or eating the wrong things, and improving your diet will undoubtedly improve your quality of life.
