Sometimes you almost can’t help but feel sorry for Joe Biden. It seems that every time he opens his mouth, he says something stupid that could cost him votes. His verbal gaffes have become almost legendary, and if you didn’t know better, you’d swear that he was actually an employee of the Trump campaign, trying to hand Trump the election on a silver platter. And this time, his comments could cost him dearly.
The Democratic Party has long taken the black vote for granted. Blacks vote for Democrats with overwhelming majorities, over 95% in some elections. It’s sad, really, since Democratic welfare policies have been largely responsible for the destruction and breakup of black families over the past century. And Joe Biden continues that legacy of taking black voters for granted.
Biden was recently interviewed by radio host Charlamagne tha God and, at the end of the interview stated, “You’ve got more questions? Well, I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” Talk about alienating your base.
The remarks rubbed the host the wrong way, and pissed off quite a few prominent black Americans. Many black conservatives have had to deal with being called “Uncle Toms” throughout their lives. But it’s one thing to be insulted in that way by a fellow black Americans. It’s another thing altogether to be insulted in that way by an old codger white guy politician who campaigns by claiming that he’s going to treat minorities better than President Trump.
Biden got significant pushback for his comments, but there’s no sign that he’s going to change his ways anytime soon. This isn’t the first time he’s insulted people on the campaign trail, and his tone-deafness about his personality will continue to get him in trouble as the campaign progresses. Many within the Democratic establishment are probably shaking their heads at how boneheaded Biden is, but at this point there’s not much they can do about it. The greatest liability to the Biden campaign is Biden himself, and he just may end up talking himself out of the Presidency.
