House GOP To Unleash Contempt Charges For FBI Dir. in Shocking Biden Bribery Claim

by Richard A Reagan

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has ignited a political firestorm, vowing to unleash contempt of Congress proceedings against FBI Director Christopher Wray

The battle lines have been drawn over a damning document, an FBI-generated FD-1023 form, which allegedly lays bare a jaw-dropping $5 million criminal bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national, with money exchanged for policy decisions.

While the FBI has granted lawmakers access to the information at their headquarters, Comer insists on obtaining the tangible document itself, leading to this potential clash.

Comer’s threat of contempt proceedings reflects the escalating frustration within the House Oversight Committee. The document in question carries significant implications, and Comer believes it is crucial for the committee to have direct access to it as part of their oversight responsibilities.

Here’s how we got here…

In a high-stakes political clash, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy threatened FBI Director Christopher Wray with contempt charges because of Wray’s refusal to comply with a subpoena that demands the release of this allegedly damning document.

During a fiery interview on Fox News, McCarthy declared, “If he misses the deadline today, I’m prepared to move contempt charges in Congress against him.”

The Speaker personally confronted Wray, leaving no room for ambiguity. “We have jurisdiction over this… If he does not follow through with the law, we will move contempt charges against Christopher Wray and the FBI. They are not above the law.”

The House Oversight Chairman, James Comer (R-Ky.), had issued a subpoena weeks ago, demanding the release of FD-1023 forms from June 2020 containing the word “Biden.”

Comer claimed that these records hold the key to an alleged criminal scheme involving former Vice President Biden and a foreign national, suggesting a corrupt exchange of money for policy decisions.

Frustrated by the FBI’s stonewalling, Comer wrote a scathing letter on May 24, warning of contempt charges if the May 30 deadline was ignored.

Despite the gravity of the situation, the FBI has been resistant.

On May 10, they refused to provide the document, citing concerns about unverified tips and the protection of informant confidentiality. However, McCarthy’s relentless pursuit continued. After a call with Wray on May 19, he expressed confidence that the FBI director would comply.

Yet, the deadline looms, and tensions have escalated further. In a stern letter, Comer delivered a direct threat, vowing to pursue contempt charges if the bureau failed to meet the subpoena deadline.

He criticized the FBI’s refusal to acknowledge the existence of the FD-1023 form and accused them of obstructionism.

McCarthy, undeterred by the FBI’s resistance, stressed that while redactions could be made, the document must be released. The Speaker’s determination is unwavering, and he warned Wray of the consequences:

“He does not have the right to choose what he can and cannot show us… he will soon see a contempt charge in Congress against the director.”

“We have jurisdiction over the FBI,” McCarthy asserted. “We have the right to look at that. Republicans and Democrats alike in that committee… If he does not follow through with the law, we will move contempt charges against Christopher Wray and the FBI. They are not above the law.”

The FBI, however, insists on cooperation.

In a statement to The Hill, an FBI spokesperson reiterated their commitment to working with Congress. Yet, the agency emphasized the potential risks to ongoing investigations and lives if confidential source information were to be released.

With tensions reaching a boiling point, Comer’s call with Wray today (May 31st) promises to be a pivotal moment in this electrifying face-off between McCarthy and the FBI director.

With contempt charges hanging in the balance, the nation waits with bated breath to uncover the truth behind the shocking Biden bribery claim.

Should contempt charges be pursued, it falls upon the Department of Justice to determine if FBI Director Wray will face prosecution.

What do you think?
Are McCarthy and Comer taking it too far?

Or is finally time for the FBI to be held accountable?
