McCarthy’s Op-Ed: Exposing the ‘Weaponization’ of DOJ

by Richard A Reagan

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy has expressed his grave concerns about President Biden’s Department of Justice in a compelling Fox News opinion.

He calls out what he terms the “weaponization” of the DOJ, alleging that it shields allies and targets political opponents.

In a vivid opening, McCarthy reminds us of the iconic symbol of Lady Justice, representing our nation’s capital, stating, “Lady Justice is depicted blindfolded, holding a scale that’s in balance because, in principle, justice is both ‘blind’ and ‘equal.’ But under President Biden, Justice is neither.”

McCarthy contends that evidence is mounting that the Biden DOJ enforces the law unequally, with the most glaring instance being the treatment of President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

“After a five-year investigation, the president’s son received a sweetheart deal from his father’s DOJ, in which Hunter Biden was allowed to plead down to misdemeanor tax charges and would not face any charges for money laundering or working as an unregistered lobbyist.”

The unease only intensifies as McCarthy takes us further behind the scenes.

He brings to light the challenges David Weiss, the Delaware U.S. Attorney, faced while managing the Hunter Biden probe. McCarthy criticizes Attorney General Merrick Garland for interfering and calls on whistleblower evidence to refute Garland’s claim of non-interference.

“Weiss sought to bring charges in two other districts and was denied both times… Weiss reportedly sought and was refused special counsel status,” McCarthy states.

The House Speaker draws attention to the strategic handling of Hunter Biden’s case, especially the alleged tax evasion associated with payments from Ukrainian energy firm Burisma.

McCarthy points out, “Garland’s DOJ allowed the statute of limitations to run out on Hunter Biden’s tax evasion… As Sharpley said, ‘the purposeful exclusion of the 2014 and 2015 years sanitized the most substantive criminal conduct and concealed material facts.’”

He goes on to reveal even more unsettling information from an undisclosed whistleblower. A WhatsApp message from Hunter Biden to an executive at a Chinese energy firm implies possible collusion. But McCarthy alleges that DOJ prosecutors did not follow up due to concerns about “optics.”

“A prosecutor allegedly even tipped off Hunter Biden’s lawyers that the IRS had probable cause to search Hunter’s storage unit, a clear violation of the unbiased and independent role DOJ has to investigate allegations of wrongdoing,” McCarthy asserts.

The Speaker urges accountability and transparency, stating, “Clearly, someone is not telling the truth, and Congress has a duty to get answers.” This sentiment extends to the potential for impeachment proceedings if the facts substantiate such a step.

As McCarthy puts it, “Congress has a duty to get answers.” These weighty allegations, if proven true, could drastically affect the credibility of the Department of Justice and its key personnel.

McCarthy’s commitment to justice and transparency, as showcased in his op-ed, shines as a beacon of hope for those who continue to believe in the principles our great nation was built upon.

The op-ed serves as a stark reminder to us all: it is our responsibility as citizens to remain vigilant and critical of our government.

As we navigate these murky waters, it’s crucial that we stay informed and demand accountability.
