Was ‘Robert L. Peters’ a Veiled Biden? Oversight Committee Turns to National Archives

The ongoing probe into the Biden family has once again yielded interesting findings.

On Thursday, the House Oversight Committee requested access to the National Archives for Joe Biden’s communications during his vice-presidential tenure. [Source]

They are particularly interested in whether Biden used a pseudonym, specifically “Robert L. Peters,” for potentially clandestine communications related to his son, Hunter, and his business associates.

Chairman James Comer, leading the inquiry, wrote to Colleen Shogan, the head of the National Archives and Record Administration, stating, “The Committee’s need for these Vice-Presidential records is specific and well-documented. The Committee seeks to craft legislative solutions to address deficiencies it has identified in the current legal framework concerning ethics laws and the disclosure of financial interests related to the immediate family members of Vice Presidents and Presidents.” [Source]

The context? An email released this January from the Obama presidential archives.

The email reveals that a White House staffer, in 2016, used a personal pseudonym email account named “Robert L. Peters” to detail a planned call between Joe Biden and then-Ukrainian President. This email also CC’d Hunter Biden at his Rosemont Seneca Partners email address.

“Boss—8:45am prep for 9am phone call with Pres Poroshenko. Then we’re off to Rhode Island for an infrastructure event and then to Wilmington for the UDel commencement,” the staffer wrote to the then-Vice President. “Nate will deliver your draft remarks either later tonight or with your press clips in the morning.” [Source]

When this email was crafted, Hunter Biden held a position on the board of Burisma. A Ukrainian gas company, Burisma Holdings, which had been flagged for corrupt practices by the Obama-Biden State Department. The Biden-Burisma link is another focal point in the Biden corruption investigation.

In addition to the email in question, the National Archives released several other emails, some redacted, containing private communications. Comer’s insistence on accessing these fully unredacted emails, especially with a “special access” request, underscores the seriousness of these allegations.

Comer, unsatisfied with only the “Robert L. Peters” pseudonym, also seeks clarity on other pseudonyms Biden might have used, such as “Robin Ware” and “JRB Ware”. [Source]

In the letter addressed to Archivist Colleen Shogan, Comer’s requests are explicitly articulated. He seeks:

  • 1. Any communication involving the said pseudonyms linked to Vice President Joe Biden.
  • 2. Documents where Hunter Biden, Eric Schwerin, or Devon Archer were part of the communication, either as sender or recipient.
  • 3. Drafts from November 1 to December 9, 2015, of Biden’s speech to the Ukrainian Rada delivered on December 9, 2015.

Of particular interest is Comer’s pursuit of “unrestricted special access under the PRA to Case Number 2023-0022-F, entitled ‘Email Messages To and/or From Vice President Biden and Hunter Biden related to Burisma and Ukraine.'” This case includes daily schedule emails, although some details are redacted.

With GOP members strongly pushing for greater transparency, the curtain over the Biden family’s activities seems to be gradually rising. More details are expected to emerge from the ongoing investigation.
