Maryland Democrat Introduces Legislation That Could Encourage Infanticide

by Anthony Buckley

You would think that in the midst of one of the worst bouts of inflation we’ve seen in 40 years, those in positions of power would be doing their utmost to alleviate their constituents’ suffering. But to Democrats, ideology trumps everything else. And there’s perhaps no ideology more central to the identity of modern Democrats than that of abortion.

Abortion is absolutely core to the mission of the Democratic Party, which is why you’ll never find a Democrat who opposes abortion or stands up for the rights of the unborn. And now even infants are finding themselves in the Democratic Party’s crosshairs.

A new piece of legislation introduced in Maryland would put newly born infants at risk of death, and democrats seem to have no problem with it. But mainstream media have by and large failed to provide any coverage of this legislation.

The bill states that:

THIS SECTION MAY NOT BE CONSTRUED TO AUTHORIZE ANY FORM OF INVESTIGATION OR PENALTY FOR A PERSON:

(1) TERMINATING OR ATTEMPTING TO TERMINATE THE PERSON’S OWN PREGNANCY; OR

(2) EXPERIENCING A MISCARRIAGE , PERINATAL DEATH RELATED TO

A FAILURE TO ACT, OR STILLBIRTH.

The key phrases there are “perinatal death” and “failure to act.” Perinatal is generally understood to mean the weeks before birth up to 28 days after birth. And failure to act means failing to perform an act that someone has a duty to perform, such as feeding an infant.

In other words, if this bill were to be enacted into law, women wouldn’t have to undergo violent abortions in which their babies are ripped up inside their wombs. They could be medically induced into delivering a baby, then just ignore the baby and fail to feed it, until it starves to death. And this section would absolve them from any responsibility for doing that, leaving authorities unable to prosecute them.

In fact, anyone abandoning a baby or allowing it to starve to death wouldn’t be able to be prosecuted as the bill is written. Normal people may find that abhorrent, but to liberal Democrats that’s as it should be. After all, why be burdened by a child you don’t actually want or care about?

While this bill likely (hopefully) won’t be going anywhere, it’s nonetheless indicative of just what the Democratic Party is thinking today, and what kind of people Democrats elect. And it’s all the more reason that we need to speak out loudly against the Democratic anti-life agenda.
