If you haven’t delved into the nitty gritty details surrounding the Trump impeachment inquiry, you’re probably not alone. The drama that has engrossed Washington, as Democrats finally think they smell blood in the water, is full of so many twists and turns that it’s hard to keep things straight. But the deeper you dig behind the scenes, the more you realize that there’s not really any desire to punish Trump for actual wrongdoing, there’s just an attempt by the deep state to force Trump out of office for daring to think that he’s the actual boss.
The so-called intelligence community whistleblower who started this whole mess was relying on secondhand information. Normally that kind of complaint wouldn’t have received much scrutiny, but in the rush to boot Trump any scrap of information will be accepted.
Then there’s the fact that the alleged whistleblower used to work with Vice President Biden. The media tries to make much of the fact that the person never worked on one of Biden’s campaigns, but that’s irrelevant. The fact that the whistleblower has a pre-existing relationship makes the complaint automatically suspect. The whistleblower isn’t actually concerned about wrongdoing, just the fact that Trump might be trying to dig up dirt on the whistleblower’s previous boss.
There’s also the fact that the whistleblower has been working with Democratic lawyers, including lawyers who retain connections to former prominent intelligence community never-Trumpers such as James Clapper. In short, this entire whistleblower scheme is just a massive deep state coup against the President.
One has to wonder what kind of dirt the intelligence community is threatening to publish on Republicans to get them to speculate that they might go along with impeachment. As Chuck Schumer famously said, the intelligence community can get back at you six ways from Sunday if you dare to cross them. Trump crossed them and now the intelligence establishment is getting its revenge. Now we have to wait and see whether we’re really a nation of laws, or if the intelligence community is the power behind the throne that pulls all the strings.
